work.txt online

work.txt online was adapted from the live version of work.txt during the pandemic. it was performed entirely by participants on a zoom call. there are not many photos of it.

Before Coronavirus, we were working all the time, we were worried about the gig economy and burnout, and now everything’s stopped. Now everyone is working on their sourdough starters, trying to be productive, feeling scared, trying to get going again.

work_from_home is an interactive play performed entirely by participants on a Zoom call, about when things stop working. It is an entirely new, digital, interactive adaptation of Nathan Ellis’ play work.txt, which was nominated for an Innovation Award at VAULT Festival 2020.

You will log on, you will do nothing, you will contribute, you will be essential.

work.txt online was commissioned by New Diorama Theatre and Incoming Festival, and was revived in August 2020 by The Place, Bedford, and again in August 2021 by Summerhall, Edinburgh.
